Website clarity audit for therapists & counselors

Your website should help fill your caseload. For most therapists, it quietly doesn't.

Get a plain-English review of what a first-time visitor actually experiences on your site, what confuses them, what's missing, and a guide including the specific changes that would make more of them reach out.

The problem

Most therapist websites make the same handful of mistakes

You trained for years to become a counselor, not a website copywriter, and writing about yourself in a way that sounds confident, not clinical or vague, is genuinely hard. Most therapists I talk to sense their website isn't quite working. Few can say exactly why, including the ones who already took a copywriting course or worked through a messaging guide and rewrote the site themselves.

Not written for anyone specific

Are you writing your website for the right audience?

What to do next

Do people know what they should do after seeing your site?

Industry jargon

Phrases that appear on hundreds of other counselor sites.

You already tried to fix it yourself

Did it actually work, or just move the same problems to different paragraphs?

It's not always easy recognizing one of these in your own site. Fixing it can be even more challenging. That's what the report is for.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish

1

Send your site

Share your homepage link (and any other key pages: About, Services) and choose a tier below.

2

I review it like a first-time visitor would

I read your site cold, without your context, and flag exactly where it loses someone: what's confusing, what's missing, what's working and should stay.

3

You get a plain-English report

A written PDF, organized section by section, with a prioritized list of what to fix first. Use it yourself or hand it straight to your web developer.

A Sample Report

"The homepage opens with 'We believe healing happens in relationship,' before it says who you help or what to do next. A first-time visitor has to scroll past four paragraphs to find any way to book a consultation."

→ FIX: Lead with who you help and the one action you want them to take. Move the philosophy to the About page, where visitors go looking for it.

Same visitor, same homepage slot, just a clearer message and a stronger next step. That's the kind of fix your report will point to on your own site.

Who's behind this

I'm not guessing at this: I've done it, on real client sites, for years

I know how hard it is to write about your own work clearly. I've rewritten my own website more than once, when the version I had stopped working. For the last several years, I've applied that same clarity-first approach directly to counseling and therapy practice websites: making the problem clear, making sure the website speaks to the right people, and making the next step obvious.

I review your site the way a first-time visitor does: cold, without the context you carry in your head. Then I use 20+ years of marketing experience to show you exactly what to fix so more of those visitors actually book.

"I'm so thankful to Justin for his extremely thoughtful and thorough review of my website. He helped me rework my messaging, which has had a dramatically positive effect on website traffic and engagement. You can tell he really put thought into the review. I highly recommend using him if your website needs tending."

Why it matters

The cost of waiting versus the cost of fixing it

If nothing changes

The site keeps quietly losing people

Referrals click through and leave without booking. Any money you spend on ads or SEO drives traffic to a page that still doesn't convert. And the practice down the road with a clearer homepage gets the click instead, not because they're better, but because their site is easier to say yes to.

Once it's fixed

Visitors know what to do next

A first-time visitor can tell, in seconds, whether you treat what they're dealing with, and exactly how to reach out. More of the people already finding your site turn into consultation requests, and you feel good sending people straight to your homepage.

A real result

Website inquiries ~2–3 / month 2–3 / day
2–3 contact forms a month → 2–3 a day

Same traffic. No new ads, no new SEO. That's what happened at our own practice after this exact kind of rewrite.

And the effect isn't limited to one channel: everyone who clicks through from an ad gets the same clearer experience. Everyone who finds you through SEO gets it. Everyone referred by another provider gets it. When the same traffic converts more often across every channel at once, your actual cost per new client goes down, without spending another dollar on marketing.

Two ways to work together

Both start with the same in-depth review. The difference is whether you want to talk it through together afterward.

Questions

Before you book

Do you redesign or rewrite my website for me?

No, this is a diagnostic report, not a build. You'll get specific, written recommendations you can implement yourself or hand to your web developer. Think of it as a second opinion from someone who reviews therapist websites for a living.

What if I have questions after I get the report?

Both tiers include email access for clarifying questions for 3 business days after delivery. The Working Session tier also includes a live call, which is the better fit if you know you'll want to talk through implementation.

How long does this take?

Turnaround is confirmed when you book, based on current volume. I'll give you a specific date up front rather than a vague estimate.

Will I actually understand the report, or is it full of marketing jargon?

Plain English, on purpose. You should be able to read it once and know exactly what to change, and so should your web developer, if that's who ends up making the edits.

Do you need login access to my website?

No. Just the live link to your site. I review it the same way a visitor finding you for the first time would.
